What is DX Manager ?
DX Manager (DXM) is a PC based, general-purpose editor and librarian for the Yamaha
DX7 and compatible synthesizers. See Screenshot
DXM is free to download for a 30-day trial period and costs $15 to purchase. Registering
your copy of DXM entitles you to future upgrades.
IMPORTANT: Before you download please ensure any download manager
you may be using is disabled.
DXM is downloaded and installed using ClickOnce - Microsoft's new generation technology for automatic application installation and update.
ClickOnce installs DXM to a pre-determined location so that it can be automatically updated.
Download managers interfere with this process and
must therefore be disabled whilst your download is in progress
For more information on ClickOnce please visit Microsoft
here.
Please note that the current version of ClickOnce only works properly with Internet Explorer. More information here.
Check the DXM2 release history here.
What synths does DXM support ?
DXM is compatible with the original DX7, known as the MKI, the MKII DX7, the TX7,TX816
and TX802 tone generators, and any other 6 operator DX/TX series synth.
DXM also works with "modern" keyboard synths like the DX200 or software synths like
the FM7 that emulate the classic DX7.
Please note: 4 operator DX synths
like the DX9 are not supported by DXM.
What do I need to run DXM ?
To use DXM with your DX7 you will need a hardware MIDI interface such as a Creative Labs Soundblaster soundcard
and MIDI leads to connect your PC MIDI interface to the synth.
DXM will run under any Windows operating system from Windows 98SE on.
DXM will not run on the Mac.
For this version of DXM
the .Net Framework Version 2 or later must be installed on your machine. If the Framework is not already
on your machine it can be installed as part of the DXM download process.
Please review the DX Manager FAQ for further installation
information.
